Located in the heart of the area, this golf club is open 364 days a year and was voted the best golf course in Santa Barbara according to "The Santa Barbara Independent" reader's poll of 2015. It is owned and maintained by the city and nicknamed Muni by locals. Unlike other golf courses in the area, Santa Barbara Golf Club must adhere to the city-imposed water restrictions and has successfully exceeded its goal in doing so. As a result, the burnout of the fairways and greens has occasionally hampered their appeal to golfers. Yet, it still holds the record of having the highest number of rounds played in the country and has been voted the best in the area time and again.
